“Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid” is a French proverb that translates to “little by little, the bird makes his nest,” meaning all goals can be accomplished with time and perseverance. Hello everyone, my name is Danne Cadet, and I am the social media coordinator for House of Lafrance Magazine LLC. As a first-year immigrant from a developing country, navigating my way to the united states served as the most challenging obstacle in my life, while also becoming my greatest accomplishment. Some of the most challenging experiences that I have faced was my education and lack of access to resources. Although I came to the United States at a young age, one of the most significant challenges I have faced is the language barrier. Learning English impacted my education significantly. For instance, I had a lot of trouble understanding and pronouncing certain words, which stopped me from expressing myself. Throughout that journey, however, I also learned many things that made me who I am today.

I graduated high school this year, in June 2021, and I am thrilled to be part of the HOLMAG team as a social media coordinator. I consider myself to be very outgoing. Although I may seem shy at first, trust me, I am the life of the party! Enjoy this issue and I will see you online and on Instagram.
