On the memorable evening of April 6th, 2024, the Junior League of Las Vegas unfurled its 15th annual Fashion Forward event with heart and flair: “Desert Elegance in Color” graced the halls of Southwest Career & Technical Academy, not just as an event but as a milestone in creative and sustainable vogue.
Igniting Sustainable Passion with Every Stitch
Bathed in the vibrant theme “Desert Elegance in Color,” a fire was lit in the hearts of Clark County high school students. They embraced the monumental “7Rs of Sustainability” – rethink, reduce, reuse, repurpose, repair, refurbish, and recycle, weaving these principles into the very fabric of their ingenious designs.
In the throes of creation, our young designers tackled two exhilarating rounds. The first round saw them transform the ordinary—recycled denim jeans, button-up shirts, and even repurposed blue fabric from Allegiant Airlines—into extraordinary fashion statements. In a thrilling second act, their visions grew wilder, armed with materials from Goodwill of Southern Nevada and Design Collective by Cintas to Reuse.
A Journey from Sketch to Spotlight
A dedication worth noting, over 200 passionate students embarked on this journey, with fewer than 100 of the most brilliant talents reaching the crowning grand finale. Those finalists took the runway by storm, their creations a spectacle of innovation, sending waves of awe through an inspired audience.

Winners of the Las Vegas fashion event were honored with not only applause but also with scholarships, apprenticeships, sewing machines, and various awards. This underlines the city’s commitment to nurturing new talent in the fashion industry, further supported by highly skilled fashion educators who focus on teaching garment construction and pattern-making.
