There is a lot speculations about instagram right now!

Instagram used to be about posting hobbies and interests through inviting and engaging imageries. But over the last years, many changes have transformed the platform, in part because of stiff competitions coming from other arising platforms such as Snapchat and TikTok.

If you are consistently on TikTok like we are, you can see the plethora of young marketing gurus posting about how to increase instagram views, followers and overall engagements. If instagram was doing something to help content creators on their own, there wouldn’t need to be so many gurus out there selling courses.

Could it be the algorithm!

It almost seems impossible to keep up with instagram’s algorithms! One minute a photo or reel may go viral, the next time you can barely hit a 100 views. You must post 1000 times a day, and your audience have to like, share and save your posts.

What’s next? Must we sell a kidney to get to where we want to get as small businesses?

Some creators seem to have it down regardless of the changes made by instagram. And when they do share tips and tricks that can be duplicated on your page, it works for a day or two and then back to nothing.

Here is what trend researchers are predicting

We are in the era of interactive video posting. If you think photos are going to cut it… think again! According to a recent study conducted by Hubspot & Talkwalker, video reels and podcast are the future! However long it is going to take before something else comes along, get on the bandwagon now!

Don’t just use instagram, start diversifying your social presence. As cliche as it sounds, instagram ain’t it!

Keep Using Newsletters!

Ah! The good old newsletter. Something in the old school marketing books that still works. Even though research shows a decrease in number of folks who are interested in signing up for newsletters, it is still a reliable source of reach. The thing to remember is to not overwhelm your audience. We know too much of a good thing is till a bad thing.

Old Fashion Networking

That’s right! get off your couch my friend! COVID should die down in the next couple of years (hopefully), so start prepping those heels and boots, and get out there and mingle, go to events, introduce yourself. You can’t stay home and expect a miracle to happen. People to people contact is still relevant.

Moral of the story, Whether instagram dies or not, don’t rely solely on it. Every software has a life cycle. Just be prepared for the next big thing and align yourself accordingly.

Until next time
